MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Q&A with Sandra Ward
How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching since 1993 when I began teaching sculpture to the visually impaired at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
What will your students learn at the studio?
Students will learn the basics of drawing, both line and shading. They will be able to depict a 3-dimensional object on 2 dimensional paper. I will also teach the necessary elements required to complete a successful drawing. Each student will become proficient at using various media such as graphite, charcoal, pen and ink and paint.
How do you accommodate the varying skills of students in your classes?
I individually assess the basic drawing skills of each student. Even though all students within a class may follow the same curriculum and work on the same projects, they work at their own pace. Students are not pushed to finish a project within a set timeframe but encouraged to finish only when they have grasped the concept.
